  I Missed International Women’s Day This year, I missed International Women’s Day. Not because I don’t care. Not because I forgot. But because I had just returned from a work trip and needed to switch offline for a little while to recharge... which ended up looking like a quiet day hanging out with a bunch of lovely men in my life. And honestly, I was okay with that. Because in the days leading up to it, I had the privilege of being in multiple rooms filled with women who are trying to make their mark on the world. Women building businesses. Women creating opportunities for themselves. Women who want to be taken seriously in their work, their ideas, and their leadership. And they’re doing it while juggling real life. Kids, dogs, partners, teams, responsibilities, and everything else that comes with being a modern woman trying to have a go. It’s something I think about a lot. The role of being a woman in leadership isn’t something that lives in a single day on the calendar....

  Not All Leaders Are Loud. And That’s Not a Weakness There’s a very specific type of leader who tends to get the most airtime. The loud one. The fast talker. The person who jumps in first and speaks with such confidence you almost forget to check whether what they’re saying is actually helpful. We’ve all seen it. And at some point, most of us have wondered if that’s what leadership is supposed to look like. Especially women. Some of the strongest leaders I’ve worked with weren’t like that at all. They were the ones who listened more than they spoke. Who didn’t rush decisions just to look decisive. Who noticed what was going on in the room, and not just what was being said out loud. They didn’t need to dominate the conversation to lead it. And somehow, when things got uncomfortable or unclear, people naturally looked to them anyway. Calm leadership is often misunderstood.
